Flora has a summer job at a lodge in Yellowstone National Park. Bev and Flora drove there in one car, and I drove our other car so Bev and I could drive back. On the second night, we stayed in Mitchell, South Dakota; this is a picture of the famous Corn Palace, with designs made entirely of corncobs.
This is somewhere in South Dakota.
This is another picture of South Dakota, or maybe Wyoming.
After Flora checked in at her new job, Bev and I spent three days touring Yellowstone. On the first day, we went to Mammoth Hot Spring.
Mammoth Hot Spring.
This pool at Mammoth Hot Spring contained lots of colorful bacteria.
After Mammoth Hot Spring, we went for a drive and saw the first of many, many bison.
On our second day of touring Yellowstone, we drove east toward Roosevelt Lodge (where Flora is working). On the way, we stopped at this petrified tree.
While we were at the petrified tree, Bev took a nap in the car while I hiked to Lost Lake. I think this might be a loon. The lake was swarming with amphipods swimming around, but I couldn't get a good picture of them.
