  • Hot springs along the Payette River.
  • Along Highway 21.
  • Riding up towards Banner Summit.
  • Looking towards the Sawtooth Mountains.
  • Our cabin in Stanley was small and dark.
  • The TV got at least 6 channels, if you fiddled with the knobs just right.
  • But this was the view from the back porch; the Sawtooth Mountains over the Salmon River.
  • Day 4: Stanley to Challis. 56.4 miles, 12.6 mph. We wussed out again and stayed on the main highway, which was beautiful and had surprisingly little traffic for a Sunday.
  • More hot springs, this time along the Salmon River.
  • We rode past all kinds of interesting rock formations.
  • More rocks along the Salmon River.

  • Shortly after seeing a sign like this, a bunch of mountain goats bounded across the highway and up into the rocks.
  • Day 5: Challis to Salmon. 58.8 miles, average 14.6 mph.
  • The Salmon River.
